Kassina42 Posted March 7, 2016 Posted March 7, 2016 I'm applying to grad school for this fall and am currently employed (on a temporary basis) at the school I'm applying to. I want to apply for an assistantship in the same office I've been working in for the past few months. (my position here started in November and is ending this week) and two of the references I've been using are in this office. Do you think it's strange to use references who work at the place where you're applying to work?
nutella Posted March 8, 2016 Posted March 8, 2016 @Kassina42, I don't think it's strange at all. So long as you have permission from those two people to serve as references, you should take advantage of the fact that you have been working there and know the people in that office. Good luck. Kassina42 Posted March 9, 2016 Author Posted March 9, 2016 Great, thanks! I did get their permission to use them as references on my assistantship applications. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't breaking some unwritten rule.
