is it just me or have the number of posts and topics decreased a lot compared to this time last year?

i hypothesize the economy and the subsequent 25% increase in overall applications this year has made everyone a little more...cutthroat and competitive. or its some combination of that and those currently in programs finding themselves busier than usual.
