lady0fshalott Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I've searched through all the posts on Creative Writing MFAs, but haven't seen MFAs in Dramatic Writing or Playwriting mentioned. Has anyone else applied for these? I'm trying to get an idea on the timeline for acceptances/rejections. Thanks!
mythsayer Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 I applied to 4 playwriting programs. Where did you apply? I haven't heard from any of them yet. I don't expect anything good from Yale and NYU's program was the musical theatre writing program (not expecting anything from them either). The other 2 were UC Riverside and U of Hawaii. Neither have made decisions yet.
lady0fshalott Posted March 13, 2007 Author Posted March 13, 2007 I only applied in NY: NYU/Tisch for Dramatic Writing, NYU/Gallatin for Dramatic Writing, Brooklyn College for the MFA in Playwriting, and Pace University for the MFA in Playwriting. angelicscribe Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 Hi :-) I've applied to a few in NY, and have had a phone interview with PACE (for their MFA program in playwriting) but haven't heard back yet. I'm thinking it's a good sign, as the next round of interviews are this weekend, but I could be wrong. Is this wait a good sign for playwriting MFA applicants? I'm crossing my fingers... not to mention compulsively checking my mailbox
cvs Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 I applied to NYU Dramatic Writing MFA. Haven't heard yey or nay yet. Web site says they notify staring March 15, w/ most notifications out by first week of April.
angelicscribe Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Yeah... Unfortunately I got rejected from PACE. I applied to TISCH (I think the same program as you) and also haven't heard back. I'm not holding out too much hope, though. I have no real world experience with playwriting, and have only written one full-length play. I think I might try waiting a year or two then re-applying when I have a nicer looking resume.
