Hi slp_hopeful6!

I haven't yet put my deposit down, but I'm probably gonna wait as long as I can (probably April 14th) to put my deposit in, since I've been wait listed at my top two other schools. Basically grad school purgatory haha

Also, have you heard anything about their program? I don't know much about it  I know they just built a new building for the Sciences so I'm thinking they may be revamping their program?

I'm in the same boat! I was wait listed at my top choice and willy p is only about 25  minutes from me so I figured i should put down the deposit to make sure I have a spot.

Regarding the program itself, I don't know too too much about it. I heard the new building is really nice and I've only heard good things about profs in that department too. On the website, it says the program has very high rates of graduation, passing the praxis, and employment within a year so I'm guessing it's pretty good!

I just put down my deposit! I'm about 30 minutes from the campus and didn't know much about it as well, but I did as much research as I could to find out as much as possible. I visited the new clinic (it was gorgeous!) and met some of the faculty and department professors. I heard they have a great reputation with the school systems in the area, and if you graduate from their program, you have a great chance of getting a job right away! Also, a professor at my undergrad said that she went to grad school with the director of the CSD program at WPU and she had nothing but great things to say about him and the program. I was hesitant about WPUNJ at first because I didn't know much about it either, but now I'm super excited!

Has anyone heard when the orientation is? I keep getting emails about registering for classes but there's a hold on my WP account because we haven't gone to the orientation. I just want to know more because now I'm getting excited!

I have the same hold on my account. I called the graduate admissions office and the woman I spoke to said that we should be receiving information about the orientation soon but that she believes it is on June 15th at 10am. So no one can register before that

Good to know that people have heard lots of great things about the program!

By the way, I was wondering if anyone applied to be a Graduate Assistant? I'm supposed to come in for an interview later this week and I'm quite nervous on what to expect.

I went on an interview for a Graduate Assistant position last Thursday. It was in the Department of Field Experience under the College of Education. The lady who interviewed me was really nice and made me feel super comfortable! She asked me about things on my resume, why I want to be a GA, and what I could bring to the department. I think depending on what department you interview under it will be different, but it was an overall pleasant experience for me!

Also, has there been a facebook group made yet?

Awesome thanks! I'm just so nervous I'm going to miss something. Also I know people who went through the program and loved it! We should be super proud because I heard it is a hard program to get in to! Also I interviewed at the same office last Tuesday and I agree! The lady leading the interview was super easy to talk too. She also explained that our GA applications are in a binder so everyone can see them. So you might hear back from other offices later on. She explained she likes to interview early. Also I don't think there is a FB group yet!!

Thank you so much for all the information on the GA interview process. Did she mention when we would expect to hear back if we got the position or not? I'm going in on Thursday and you guys definitely ease my nervousness :) I believe it's in the same department at the College of Education for me too! Good luck to all of us!!

Also, I don't think there's been a FB group made yet! Haven't really seen anything haha.

She told me last Tuesday that she would have an answer by last Friday. But then emailed me Friday and said sometime this week!

Hey everyone! I live about an hour away from WPU so I was wondering if anyone was planning on living off-campus or in the graduate on-campus housing. Preferably someone who's also an incoming first-year graduate student in the Communication Disorders department, please let me know! :)

Someone should make a FB group! I can't figure it out haha

I tried to make a FB group too, but it's telling me that I need to add at least one person to it before I make it. Apparently I don't count as the one person lol

I finally decided on William Paterson yesterday! I also live too far to commute so I am probably am doing graduate housing for at least the first semester until I figure things out :)
