robertzhang Posted April 14, 2016 Posted April 14, 2016 A nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college. Write a response in which you discuss the extent to which you agree or disagree with the recommendation and explain your reasoning for the position you take. In developing and supporting your position, describe specific circumstances in which adopting the recommendation would or would not be advantageous and explain how these examples shape your position. There is a general ocnsensus about that education is essential for the future of a nation, so it’s a hot topic about whether a nation should require all of its students to study the same national curriculum until they enter college. The uniform curriculum should be better option in the present situation. The aim of a national educational system is to cultivate generations of youth. Good and experienced teachers are critical in this process. In this respect the same national curriculum is playing an enormously beneficial role that enables the government to apply a set of uniform standards to training all of the teachers. And a single set of training standards truly help gather up all available resources. It is arguable that the more trained the teachers are, the more competent they are. Supposed that there are different curriculums in different provinces in a country. For one thing, provincial education authorities need to establish the corresponding training systems for teachers. Additionally, teathers have to be trained again for becoming accustomed to a new curriculum when moving from a province to anther one. There are definitely a huge waste of time and resources for the government and teachers. Moreover, a nation wants to select the most intellegent and motivated young men to enter colleges for further education. So it has been challenging how to set up a procedure to select. It is easier to evaluate if all of the students study the same national curriculum. The government can design a national exam according to the contents of the curriculum. Based on the results of this exam, colleges can easily decide who are eligible for the entrance. Based on the same national curriculum, a set of uniform evaluation standards is not only efficient but also establishing a fair starting point for every students, whether rich or poor. Nonetheless, one argues that the abilities of individuals are different, but the same national courses neglect these differences. One student, talented in some fields, such as writing, can not be taught specifically. His special gift may be inhibited and it will be a huge loss for the country. It may be true, yet it is doubtful whether a nation should employ different curriculums catering for distinctively gifted groups. Furthermore, specially treated tends to entail privilede and injustice. So the better way to make up the loss is to be educated specially while being in the colleges. After weighing up the pros and cons, a uniform national curriculum should be better to be applied for all students for creating an efficient and fair environment.
