Ayşe Gül Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 Hello Everyone! I am a third year Banking and Finance student in one of Turkey's best colleges. I have to decide whether I will apply for Finance or Financial Engineering. If I choose Financial Engineering I have to take some extra courses from Math department and Computer Science department for the rest of my college years. My concern is not getting accepted to MFE programs since there are many Computer Science or Math major people applying. What should my path be now and after graduation?
SnowSnowSnow Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 (edited) Even if you choose finance, you should try to get as many math and CS classes as possible. If you want to work in industry the great jobs go to quantitatively savvy people, and if you decide to get a PhD the quant classes are a necessity. Also, the CS and especially math classes well help you get into a good master's program for finance. You should apply to the programs that interest you. An MS in finance from a top school will be just as good as an MS in fin eng. Edited October 5, 2016 by SnowSnowSnow
