asmaa Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 hello I'm a senior in Kuwait University. my major is statistics and operations research and minor mathematics. well i have a vacation for about 4 weeks and i just thought of invest it. my question is how can i improve myself in my major? if you know very good books that i can learn from (something really light like "operations research for dummies") and how i can apply my knowledge in the real world. i work in a fast food restaurant but I'm not sure how to apply.also i think i can have data (records) from Kuwait Airline.
zilch Posted January 12, 2010 Posted January 12, 2010 if you're into sports, a really good way to practice and apply your stats knowledge is to analyze statistical trends for teams and players. A friend of mine does this and he pulls raw data from the various sports websites and comes up with ratings for teams, predictions for games and projections on how a team/player might perform over a long period of time. It would also be pretty easy to start a blog or something where you can post your analysis.
