If the instruction requires me to state reasons for something but does not mention at all about stating my faculty of interest and why I chose that school, do I still have to include these things? Or would they be considered redundant and give a bad impression of my SOP?

Can you post the directions from whatever application you are looking at? Your question isn't that clear.

"This one- or two-page statement states your reasons for undertaking graduate work and explains your academic interests, including their relation to your undergraduate study and professional goals."

Sorry for any confusion. To rephrase my question, do I have to include in my SOP the faculty I want to work with and why I chose that particular school even if the SOP instructions did not mention these? Hope it's clearer now!

Thanks for this. I would definitely include in your SOP the faculty you want to work with/why you chose that school.  Reasons for undertaking graduate work = your research interests/questions, then move on to research you've already completed (either in undergrad or in an MA program), and then end on how this particular institution will help your professional goals (this is where you bring in the faculty). Just a regular SOP.

Thanks for the quick and precise reply. It makes things clearer now.  I was wondering about this because the instructions only specified past and future research without mentioning the regular SOP stuffs like faculty. So I presume all SOPs should include those points even if the instructions are phrased differently?

Yes they all should even if instructions are not 100% clear.
