How do you know where you rank? Is a Masters worth it?

Question

Posted (edited)

Hello all.
I am a Bio major at the University of Miami. I'm a senior undergraduate with a 3.2 GPA (3.119 science) and 9 months of research experience. I have no published papers nor have I displayed any work in a research symposium. My GPA percentiles are 85% ,67%, 96% (Verbal, Quant, Writing). Also, I took the biology subject test but did not do well at all, so I won't be sending that score in. (65% on average)

I have been applying to Genetics PHD programs (I applied to all the UC schools), but I don't quite know how competitive I am.
How do you guys get a better idea of what your chances are of getting in?

Also, on the chance that I don't get in anywhere I applied, I am not sure what my best fallback is. I could either continue my research in the lab I currently participate in, or I could do a masters degree. I would go into the PHD after the masters or next cycle if I just stay in the lab. Any advice?

Thanks!
