Regarding additional writing pieces requests

Hi all,

A director affiliated with the program I applied for (I am quite sure she is not the grad committee, but works very close with them) just emailed me and asked for some additional writing pieces I have done in the past or working on right now. I've submitted my materials days ago, so I assume they already glanced through my official writing sample.

I met and talked with this person during my application visit, but I am not so sure about this additional writing pieces request, has anyone ever encountered such case? I am kind of curious.
