frapoz Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Hi everyone, Four days ago I took the GRE and I got Q165 and V162. Today, I received an email from Columbia which says: "QMSS (M.A. in quantitative methods in social sciences) has identified you as a highly qualified individual who might benefit from our program and invites you to apply to join our Fall 2017 cohort". However, I have never even heard of this program, which nonetheless sounds quite appealing, and I never enrolled in any newsletter about QMSS. So, it is possible that they got my email and maybe some info regarding my profile from the GRE search service? Or does it sounds to you just as a regular advertising email? Furthermore, is it possibile to know if any institution has looked up my profile through GRE search service? Thanks in advance PS. I am a newbie, so I am not sure whether this is the right forum, but i hope so
fuzzylogician Posted December 20, 2016 Posted December 20, 2016 Sounds like a generic advertisement. I wouldn't get too excited.

Thanks for the replay, I wanted just to figured out how they got my email and name, and I assumed there was a causal link between the GRE + GRE search service and the email.
pebs Posted December 21, 2016 Posted December 21, 2016 I've received a few similar emails since taking the GRE; one actually stated at the bottom, "We identified you as a potential candidate for our graduate community through the GRE Search Service", but the rest didn't fess up. They all seem like spam that gets triggered by a particular range of scores and criteria in your ETS profile. shur42 1

At the very least, that email could mean that my GRE score is adequate for the QMSS. What do you think guys, can a Q165 and V162 make the cut? Also my IELTS is 8.0 and my average grade is about 29.7/30. I should graduate this summer with 110 cum laude which is the highest score achievable in Italy, obtaining a 3 years bachelor in Political Science.
