Emailing prospective research advisor

Question

Posted

I emailed a professor expressing interest in his research. He asked me to send my resume, which I did, but have not got a reply and it's been a couple of months.I can't help but think it is because he was not impressed with my resume. However, I got admitted to the university recently and thought of contacting the professor again. Should I send a follow-up email?

Yes, definitely. A no-response doesn't necessarily mean that they were not interested. Sometimes professors just want to see the resume and there's nothing to say when they do, so they don't respond. Now that you are actually admitted, in general, professors will be more likely to respond, so try again.
