Nerdman Patel Posted March 20, 2017 Posted March 20, 2017 Hi. I've just completed an LLM by coursework (A+ grade for minor dissertation) and have some reservations about how to proceed. I aspire to a career in legal research (academia) and would appreciate advice from anyone here, regardless of discipline. Would it be preferable to pursue a dissertation based LLM prior to a Phd (I have decent research ideas for both)? I feel it would serve as a bridging between my current station and the vigorous intensity and commitment needed for a Phd. Further, it would also afford me some time to, hopefully, publish more and to modify my thesis proposal as well. My supervisor has encouraged me to jump straight into a doctorate but I have some strong reservation. Please advise. Thanks.
