bwgvsu Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 This might seem like kind of a trivial question. I am asking more out of curiosity as an individual applying to PhD programs in political science (comparative politics) this fall. How did you narrow down your regional interest? Why?
VMcJ Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Well, for international applicants like myself it is usually easy -- we tend to study our own regions. But I'd think more in terms of research issues instead of regions if I was American.
guest56436 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Always had been interested in a certain region then I started spending time traveling and living there and it kind of just moulded into my substantive interests while I was an undergrad.
PizzaCat93 Posted March 21, 2017 Posted March 21, 2017 Well, what is your substantive interest? Also, today it is increasingly common for folks to not solely confine themselves to one region but rather to one substantive topic. dagnabbit 1
