UC Riverside geology

Hi folks, did any one heard from the geology program? I've applied for that and got some very positive replies from the POI in January and February saying that they have very strong pool but my file is competitive. I was told that I will be sure to be contacted once they have more infos but nothing happened until now. Do you guys think there is almost no hope...?  I think I am in the waiting list. I tried to email the POI last week but still got no reply.  sad face
