Hey! I can't seem to find a recent forum to settle my anxiety haha... I'm waiting to hear back from 3 programs: NYU, Brown, and Harvard for their Italian Studies/Romance Language PhD programs. Does anyone know when I can anticipate opening my mail box to a Si or No? It seems NYU send notifications mid March... but the programs I'm applying to are relatively small compared to others. I started the MA program at Middlebury last summer but would like to be a full time student during the year working toward a PhD so I'm undecided about whether or not to go back to MIDD this summer... depends on what happens with these programs.

I've been trying to keep in touch with a prof at Harvard as much as possible so my name becomes engraved in her memory haha...

sooo.... anyone know when those programs send out acceptance/rejection letters? Luckily I have a job now so the time is passing much quicker that it would otherwise... but I'm a bit anxious none the less.

grazie :)

Ciao!

I don't have any answers to your questions but, like you, am waiting. And, I'm also doing a Middlebury program! I'm in Florence now through them. So, sorry I can't be of any help, but you are definitely not alone. Maybe there are some prospective Italian Ph.D.s lurking around the forum with more information...

Oh wow! haha, I was supposed to be in Florence this year as part of the MA program with MIDD but decided last minute not to sit in another 30Gs of loan debt for a MA.... were you at the MIDD campus last summer? I bet you know all the people I studied with this last summer! haha, awesome small world. Well, I hope we hear back soon! How are you liking the program in Florence?

It's a great program. Spring semester just started yesterday so I'm still figuring out which classes I'll be taking. I was at Middlebury last summer but in the Spanish school because I'm doing a Masters in Mediterranean Studies which lets me work in two languages. So, I wasn't allowed to meet any of the people at the Scuola Italiana until the brief meeting during the summer and then when I arrived in Florence.

I'm also applying to Harvard and Brown. Have you heard anything from them? I e-mailed Brown awhile ago just to check if my application is complete and never got a response.
