Student Loans for Non-Degree Programs?

Hi, everyone, I was fortunate to get into a fully-funded program (plus some stipend). It is not a degree program, but will likely lead into a PhD program the following year.

I was wondering if anyone knew of any student loans I could look into to help cover living costs, books, etc. As I understand it, federal loans are for degree-granting programs only. So I'm not sure if my options are limited only to private loans with very high rates (that would begin repayment immediately; so no deferment while I'm in school). Or if there may be something I overlooked. Thanks.
