College students should not base their choice of a field of study on the availability of jobs rather, they should choose a field according to their personal interest. Nowadays, many students choose their field of study according to the availability of jobs in that field. For example, In a country like India many students opt for Engineering as their field by hearing about the highly attractive salary packages good engineers receive. But many find out hard to get passed in their exams as they find Engineering courses difficult and haunting. It may be due to their lack of interest in this field. Moreover, many students after somehow completing the degree end up being jobless. This is certainly because they lack the necessary skills required to work in an industry, which they are assumed to get during the time they were students but could not. There are many fields of study a student can choose from, but the selection should depend upon the interest of the student rather than the availability of jobs in that field. Such a student is more likely to get his dream job as he does what he likes and is interested in. Such students have more chances to advance in their field. Nevertheless, they enjoy their work and are not frustrated with their job. However, if a student chooses a field of study according to the availability of jobs in that field, He/She gets a large number of options to choose from. Also it would be easy for them to switch between jobs. Students should choose their field of study according to what suites them better rather than thinking about the availability of jobs in that fields.
