I'm currently in a terminal MA program, but UMich looks like a perfect fit for a PhD program.

What do you think of its History program? How insular is it, in terms of dealing with other departments? My field overlaps with Native studies.

I'm not sure if you will find this information useful or not, but the American Culture Ph.D. program at Michigan has many faculty members that work on Native American history/culture.
