crank92 Posted July 13, 2017 Posted July 13, 2017 I will be taking GRE on November. I am believing in myself when it comes to GRE Verbal, despite the fact that I an International Student. However, I am terrible at Math and this was the reason for me why I did not enrolled a top tier university back at home. I will be applying to several Political Science PhD programs in this fall. I would like to ask that, is scoring 155+ doable for a guy who is terrible at math (especially nadir level geometry) until November?
spaceorca Posted July 18, 2017 Posted July 18, 2017 Definitely possible. You just need to do a bunch of practice problems! I think the "Official GRE Quantitative Reasoning Practice Questions Second Edition" might be of value since they have full explanations for all 150 practice problems.
Dukemm Posted July 21, 2017 Posted July 21, 2017 ooking through some of the quant qns for GRE, it seems like i need to brush up on my high sch math. Would you guys suggest i start digging up my old textbooks or should i buy one of those exhorbitatn GRE guidebooks?
Scout Griffin Posted July 25, 2017 Posted July 25, 2017 Buy a GRE textbook. The biggest mistake people make (even those math studs) is that they believe their good math skills will save them on the GRE. Its a different test entirely. Your old textbooks give you a problem and tell you what to do to solve it. GRE questions do not. They're meant to make you analyze what piece of information is given, and decide how best to solve it. Buy an actual GRE prep book (Kaplan is good). They are designed to teach you exactly how the GRE functions. In regards to the Verbal Reasoning-there's no trick to it. Build up your vocab any way you can. Good luck.
JohnKim Posted August 10, 2017 Posted August 10, 2017 I suggest investing in test preparation program. They can surely help you with it, their practice tests are very good. Test prep company also provides lessons to help you. Here are my top 3 picks: https://www.preped.com/find?exam=gre https://gre.magoosh.com/online-prep https://www.kaptest.com/gre Although, purchasing textbooks are also a good choice.
