I just received an email from the Harvard history department that it will be another month before decisions are made either way. I had specifically asked about the status of my acceptance/rejection and there was no news either way. This doesn't seem to jibe with what I've seen on here about them being finished, and this is about as first-hand as it gets.

Any thoughts?

a friend of mine from undergrad was accepted earlier this month into harvard's program for an international/global history PhD.

my guess is they're still waiting to make definitive rejections or sort out the waitlist, but it at least some acceptances have gone out already.

I got an email from a faculty member last Friday that said I would "shortly" receive the official offer. Are you an Americanist? Maybe the other fields haven't decided yet.

Probably. Usually Harvard has its recruiting days early-mid March, so it seems unlikely that they're going to work on the full admit list for another month.
