APPLYING EARLY WITH LOW GPA OR LATER WITH HIGHER GPA FOR UCL GRAD SCHOOL

Hi,

Im thinking to apply to UCL grad school on next following year which has an entry requirement of lower second minimum. I am currently 2nd year having a lower second grades (very close to third) and am wondering if I have to apply right away at the beginning of the application date or wait until other grades to be published in order to have better overall grades. What is your recommendation on this? Thank you

It's probably useful to figure out if admissions is rolling (decisions made as applications come in) or in one fell swoop at some point after the submission deadline. This varies by program and field, and since you didn't tell us anything about your field, it's hard to know. If decisions are made after the deadline, there's no advantage to submitting early. If they're made on a rolling basis such that there might be fewer open slots for those submitting late, there's more of an obvious reason to want to submit early. Another thing to consider is how important grades are compared to other application components. What else will they be basing their decision on, and how are you doing on those? If you have an otherwise very strong application and your grades exceed the required minimum, you might want to submit early. If you're borderline, you might want to wait for the better grades. It's hard to give you more specific advice than this, given how little we know.
