Getting accepted to rhet/comp PhD without master's thesis?

How likely/common is it to get accepted to a PhD program in rhet/comp without having done a master's thesis?

It depends on the program.  In mine it is not unusual to admit students straight from a B.A. (my cohort had two rhet/comp students who had no MA), in some this seems far less common.   I would ask the DGSs or current students in the programs you're applying to.
