Is it still wise to contact potential advisors during application in this case

Question

Posted

If the lab website of the professor says that once you are accepted to XXX program, contact professor XXX via email, Do you think it is still wise to contact him before admission?

I've seen many professors' lab websites like that.

Unless there was some critical question or thing you need to discuss before submitting an application, if their website says this, I would take it as a sign to not contact them until admission decisions are determined. Note that even if you have some critical question, the prof might not see it that way and might not reply either.
