I just got rejected from the Comp Studies program at OSU. I am sad, but it was my least favorite program, my first being the English program at OSU to which I also applied. I realize there is no way to tell, but I'm at work and bored and sad, so what do you think this means? Do you think this means I should assume that I also got rejected from English since that program is way more competitive? But I guess it's also bigger, so maybe there's a chance? WHAT DOES IT MEAN????

I know. It means nothing. But I felt like I was going to get into Comp Studies and not English. So I feel like I've bene hit with two rejections, not one. Please convince me otherwise.

They are distinct departments with distinct admissions committees. Some faculty, I believe, have joint appointments, though the probability is that there isn't anyone on both admissions committees.
