epfluw Posted December 21, 2017 Posted December 21, 2017 Hi all, this is my first post on the forum. I apologize if this post should belong in another section. I'm an undergraduate student who double majors in statistics and computer science. I'm very interested in pursuing a masters in stats because I like the subject so much. However, I'd like to ask you guys what you think the added value a statistics program provides career-wise, in terms of: 1) increased chance of employment at a better company, because of stronger qualifications and/or "signalling" 2) increased chance of employment at a higher-paying role, because of stronger qualifications and/or "signalling" 3) increased chance of advancement in workplace I've held "data science" internships at a large US bank, building statistical models. I've seen undergraduates, masters and phds on my team, but havent noticed any obvious correlation between level of education and the above items. Therefore I'm wondering what your experiences say about this. Is the correlation more apparent with a graduate degree in computer science? Thanks!
