  1. I saw on the results page that someone received a phone call about acceptance into NYU's Sociology of Education program. Has anyone else on here heard / not heard from them?
  2. "Personally, I don't think it might be the New Orleans thing. I know one of the POI's research is based off of the economics and reformation of the New Orleans school system. You can always call them and ask what it was, I know a lot of programs are more than happy to inform you of their reasoning so that you have a chance to "improve your application...etc" as they say. Don't give up! If you're passionate about it, stick it through! " Hitomimay, I understand what you are saying and congratulate you, but I did my homework on the POI's before applying and the one you are referring to has done research work for/ grant writing for Tulane's Scott Cowen's Institute. Tulane's Scott Cowen Institute has written most of the research which has supported/fueled the privatization of the public schools in my city. Knowing I was taking a chance, in my SOP I clearly stated my opposition to the privatization of public schools. Maybe a few points on the GRE would have helped, but my score was way above their average; there was no way for me to "improve my application!"
  3. dm242, I searched the results page under "education" and I saw that someone had been rejected from "University of Southern" in Urban Education Policy. Honestly, I do not comprehend why they would not accept me. My GRE scores are above their average, I have 2 M.Ed. with a 3.85, 9 years as an educator in urban public schools, an excellent SOP, excellent LOR's, etc. Not to mention, I have been a resource for many academic researchers for their research and conferences. My only flaw is that in my SOP, I was clear about my critique of the current "reform" movement in New Orleans. Maybe, they did not agree with my politics. However, it must be meant to be and there is something else waiting for me. I put everything into my applications and if I do not receive a promising offer, I will not be applying next year. I will look for another option. Just received an email response from Aba Cassell of USC. She said everyone should receive a response by Feb. 15th.
  4. Officially rejected from SUSE SHIPS Educational Policy. No surprise! Application sent to Master's in POLS. My first official rejection, but have heard nothing from the others.
  5. Sorry, wannabeaphd! Don't take it to hard. Good thing you have been accepted to other programs. Still waiting!!!
  6. Talked to USC today and they said that they had not sent out all their acceptance letters. They said that they would have them out within the next few weeks. waiting....
  7. And, don't be discouraged NOLAConstance, I haven't heard from USC either... soon though. I called Aba and she said that all acceptances will be out by mid-Feb. I guess they must get sent out as funding is secured? thanks! playing the waiting game!
  8. No word from USC or anyone else, for that matter!
  9. Congrats Hitomimay and litjust! Thanks for keeping us updated. Still haven't heard anything.
  10. Who has had interviews for USC's PhD Urban Education Policy? Do they contact everyone that they are considering? Any information?
  11. Phd Ed Policy: USC Stanford Northwestern Penn GSE WashU Sociology of Education: NYU Politics and Ed.: Teachers College
