  1. @Abby08 hahaaa they did the same exact thing to me! I was like, really did you need to say that many times
  2. Finally got the email, twas bad news.. oh well, I guess I'll graduate instead. Congrats to the rest of y'all
  3. @Abby08 I still haven't gotten anything! They may be doing waves because of the amount of people, and we're just at the end. Good luck to you, and congrats to the rest!
  4. those of you that did not get it, did you receive an email as well? I still have not heard.. (for the scholarship) I'm so worried!
  5. @SarahsSeoulSearch Personally I think I would just get the ticket now. Within the flight budget, I believe we were supposed to allocate for fees which could include cancellation/rebooking of a new flight. Assuming you made the flight cost high enough, I think you should be in god shape. Koryeo is amazing, that’s where I was this past summer! Also, I’ve definitely seen some of your videos on YouTube, assuming you’re the same person
  6. slightly funny! Just tell us the results, I'm sure the majority of the decisions are done already!
  7. I found some PDFs that Boren has posted and it gave me a better idea about some of the finer details of both the Scholarship and Fellowship. Here are the links! Boren Scholarship Handbook (2014): http://www.borenawards.org/document/download/current_year_scholarship_handbook_183.pdf Boren Fellowship Handbook (2015): https://www.borenawards.org/document/download/current_year_fellowship_handbook_182.pdf
  8. @maybemuscatYes! My year starts in September as well! Do any of you know, or have heard of people going early if selected for the scholarship? If I were to receive it, I really would like to travel around a bit/have free time before I actually dive into the semester. My thought so far is: they're paying for the flight regardless, so what difference is a few weeks... but I feel like they have some sort of clause somewhere saying no
  9. @maybemuscat My plan is to study for a full year. The first semester would be a language only program (400 hours I think, so not that bad) and the second semester I was looking at taking politically based classes (e.x. conflict between the north and south) which is way outside of my normal courses. I'm interested in applying to some positions within the FBI or other similar task-forces to do forensic work (this is what I study) or something based in counter-terrorism. I also don’t know if this is feasible or not, but I wanted to see if I could do some sort of shadowing with law enforcement/forensic experts.
  10. This wait is killing me! I definitely think that they've caught on about asking for budget updates... Thanks for the google docs @maybemuscat!
  11. I have also applied to Boren for this coming year! This is soo exciting (and nerve-wracking)! Now it's all about the wait.. I'm applying for a full year in Seoul, South Korea to study Korean (obviously)... ahhh I am so impatient! How confident do you all feel about your application/essays/recommendations and all that jazz? Best of luck!
