  1. Hey Volo! U of Conn. was the ONE and only program that never even bothered to email me back. I kept checking my junk email to see if it got in there, I was shocked not even a reply. To be honest, other prestigious schools who emailed me back within 2 hours, I felt U of Conn. to be rather rude in not even a reply months later. I decided to take them off my list of schools because of it. I wouldn't waste my time or money applying to a school who doesn't have the etiquette or respect to do their job and email students back. *Sorry* just my two cents. Good luck!
  2. Hi flood25, I just replied to your other post, but wanted to let you know some past experiences with friends who had their AW score reviewed after their initial score. I say go for it! One of my friends received a 4 on the first round, had it reviewed and got a 4.5, every little bit helps. It may be a little more money, but I say your future is definitely worth it. Good luck, and let me know if you have any more questions!
  3. Hi flood25! I disagree with a 4 being the unofficial cutoff. I work with a clinical psychologist in academia, actually just sat down and talked with her about grad schools today. She said the first important thing is contacting the faculty and showing your interest and passion for the work that they do, most professors typically don't accept students they haven't connected with in some form. Second, GPA is the first cutoff, how high is your GPA? is it above 3.8? or 3.9 in your last two years? Third is the GRE cutoffs, you have a stellar quant and verbal which would be favorable. If you are able to compensate your low AW score with an outstanding SOP or personal statement then that one score may not hold you back. I say you should still apply to programs this year and make sure you emphasize your other strengths. Good luck!!!
  4. Are you looking to go into a fully funded masters program? Is your overall undergrad GPA a 2.9 or your psych GPA a 2.9? Have you been able to gain any experience in an I/O setting? As for getting into a masters program, I don't think you will have an issue. However, if you were to apply to fully funded or half funded programs you may have some steep competition. You do have pretty great GRE scores, so I wouldn't retake it unless a lot of your schools rank the Quant section more favorably. Coming from someone who's been in I/O background for a while now, I don't think you will have a problem getting into masters programs, as long as you have great letters, amazing statement of purpose, and if you raised your GRE even by a couple more points it could help a little. Since your current GPA is a 3.7 that will be waited more than your undergrad, but as long as you got mostly A's in your psych classes. Don't stress too much, as I think you have a pretty great shot at getting into at least 3-5 programs you apply to if not way more.
  5. 10-15 is definitely not overkill, I think that is pretty standard across the board. I'm applying to 8... -Portland State -Bowling Green -U SouthFlorida -Colorado -George Mason -U of Tulsa -U of Albany -Clemson Is this your first year applying to I/O schools? I cannot wait till all my apps are in and I can finally sleep/relax haha
