  1. Oh, well. Grad school karma will bite you in the ass for this. *puts voodoo grad curse on Minnesotan* POOF! Your funding is gone!
  2. Where is everyone going and what do you plan on studying? WashU 20th/21st ce. British/American with focuses on contemporary fiction, gender studies, cultural studies, postmodernism, and the Avant Garde
  3. Yeah, waitlists suck. I was on two but got a rejection from UMass the other day. I'm still waiting on Temple; they should have some more info for me by tomorrow.
  4. Optimistic, you might be waitlisted.
  5. He basically said that if everyone (in 20th Ce. American lit) accepts their offers, then I may have to wait until the summer to see if any of them change their mind.
  6. I haven't heard anything else from Temple and UMass. The director at UMass said that it's possible not to hear anything until mid-summer!
  7. You can still do it, and most schools will release you. It's just considered to be in bad taste. You could, however, position the schools against each other and try to get one to up their funding.
  8. Actually, I think you still need a release letter; in this case, however (funding v. no funding), they usually give them out without any problems.
  9. It probably would've been smart to start e-mailing them before the application deadline. I wish I had done that.
  10. Right. Everyone is supposed to make their decisions today. Hopefully, we'll hear something tomorrow; however, we could be on the waitlists well into the summer. ? I'm going to accept WashU's offer of admission. It's a great school, and I'd love to live there.
  11. So, it's finally April 16th...Deadline Day. Who else is still waiting for responses from schools? I'm dealing with two waitlists right now and am kind of freaking out.
  12. If Cornell has a better rep, go there. Spend your summer brushing up on their sensor thing.
  13. Tom, it's generally considered to be in bad taste to accept another offer when you've already committed to a school. However, the exception to this rule is if the new school is offering funding, while the first school is not. I'm on two waitlists, one with funding, so I'm hoping that they'll get back to me on Monday.
