Hi, are you also applying to chemical engineering? Would you mind telling me when you submitted the application to Berkeley? Cuz the deadline is Dec. 14th and I saw there are offers sent out right on that day or just a few days after the deadline. I am wondering if it would help a lot if submitting earlier. I have to say I submitted on the deadline.......and I haven't heard anything from any other school I applied to. Also, there is notice on the status page of Northwestern University saying PhD applicants should find out between Feb and Mar BUT I've already seen ppl reporting offer from NU in Jan. I submitted my application for the chemical engineering PhD program the day before it was due and received a phone call a few days later. Acceptances don't always go out all at once, so I wouldn't give up hope for NU. The first visit weekend for Berkeley is this weekend, and the next is two weeks later, so I think it is likely they have sent all of their acceptances out. So when I call them, could I go straight to the topic and say "Hi, I am a PhD applicant for 16 Fall. It is in February but I haven't got emails from your department. It seems like there are no results for this year yet, but they usually come in by mid to late January based on previous years. I'm starting to assume not hearing anything back at this point means rejection from most of my schools and that at this point the focus should be on current acceptances and visits. All my other schools I haven't heard back from have already accepted a bunch of people on the results page so I'm just waiting for the rejection letters at this point. I don't think they've sent out any acceptances yet (according to the results board), but I could be wrong.. Contacting the department doesn't hurt either if you'd truly like to find out. If you have better choice, please reject the offer of Uconn. I have applied PSU, UVa, WPI. Anyone have any information about these schools.
