  1. Pl share ur view if possible the better one 1. Michigan Technological University- MS in mechanical ENGG major- engine control strategies and emission research Total I20- $27,714(include living cost- $12,248) 2 University of Cincinnati - Masters of Engineering (MEng) program in Mechanical Engineering, non-thesis program designed to be completed in one academic year, to confirm before 30April Major - vibration control and Powertrain NVH Total cost- $17,633 (after UGS) without living cost My plan is to have a good engg career in USA. Both seem same in affordability
  2. Statement of purpose An abundance of technological innovation achieved so far and the possibilities ahead intrigues me from a young age, and urge me to contribute my part. The creativity and excitement involved while working for new vehicle launches, motivates me to pursue further research in the automotive feild. My aspiration to become an expert in this field has driven me to pursue an extraordinary graduate program in mechanical engineering. At Purdue University I intend to study Systems, Measurement and Control as concentration in mechanical engineering. I look forward to developing skills and contribute in optimizing vehicle systems and diagnostics & control strategies. Purdue having facilities such as Ray W. Herrick Laboratories and Engine Controls Laboratory is suitable for research in this field. Besides, current projects on Engine Diagnostics and Vehicle Health Management are perfectly inline with my research intent. Also, I am fascinated by Dr. Gregory M. Shaver's expertise in power trains modeling control and his research in incorporation of IC engines in hybrid power trains. If I am given an opportunity, these will be complementing my expertise as automotive engineer. Likewise, I am also interested in Prof. Peter H. Meckl's research in diesel engines diagnostics for emissions control, engine after treatment devices and automatic tuning of engine's controller parameters for optimising the performance. These research projects perfectly overlapp my research intent. Coming from a Military family, I feel a sense of discipline and upfront enthusiasm for my ambitions. My engineering career can be traced back to my mother’s influence, which helped me become an excellent student during my formative years. Then onwards, clearing a competitive exam took me to National Institute of Technology (NIT) Patna, which is conferred “An Institute of National Importance” in India. There, as a Mechanical Engineering student, I acquired core knowledge in IC Engine, Dynamic of Machinery and Thermal Sciences to name a few. My belief in practical application of theory, focused on Finite Element Analysis, Numerical Methods and Computational Techniques courses. My thesis was 'Diesel Technology' wherein I demonstrated a sustainable options for diesel engines. My work involved a case study of TDI engines, and analysis of technologies offering cleaner drive, which instilled in me the passion for research in sustainable engine technologies. I also accomplished an industrial project on 'Steam Turbine Technology' at Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, an equipment manufacturer. That exposure gave a valuable insight into relationship between manufacturing processes, and, functionality of industrial equipment thereof. Currently, I am associated with Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd in the capacity of Assistant Manager in Automotive Product Development team. I supervise the Electric Vehicle projects, and responsible for handling the integration of major aggregates in vehicle architecture. My role includes system design, vehicle layout assessment and packaging, which demands analytical and creative skills. My work allows me to appreciate the importance of research and the amount of effort required to transform ideas become reality. Consequently, my work has been awarded an 'outstanding effort certificate' for the value engineering implementation. Working with leading sustainable mobility players sparks a confidence in me for executing innovation projects. After a quality exposure in Automotive Industry, I am convinced and dedicated towards a career in research in the field. As a rule, I believe in change as part of life, thus focus in reinventing and perfecting onself for challenges and aspiration ahead. Above all, my ambition is to deliver an effective contribution to automotive industry, which benefits the society. This demands a perfection in research intent and innovative skills through an intellectual development based education. I believe Purdue University will surely help me to enrich knowledge and enhance expertise for research in this field, that will help bring me closer to my goals– along with these core purpose that I bring to the table. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Pl find the updated SOP. Kindly share your respective views on the SOP for further improvement. Your feedback is helpful to my application, pl share your views. thanks and regard, Sanjeet Limbu
