  1. I haven't heard from U of A either, I am assuming I didn't get in but its odd they haven't sent anything.
  2. Yay this is such exciting news congratulations nins!
  3. Nins, I am sorry if my post seemed patronizing it wasn't meant to be at all. If I was in your position I would feel discouraged too. I really don't understand why there are so few schools for SLP in Canada when the need is so great. It seems ridiculous that so many people who would be amazing SLP's never get the chance due to a lack of seats. I really hope that you get into Western or Toronto, I have heard both are awesome programs. In the next few weeks there should be quite a bit of movement in the waitlist as people decide which program they want. I will have my fingers crossed for you.
  4. To those who didn't get in or are on the waitlist.. don't give up. A lot of people get in off the waitlist, I actually know of two people who were able to get in right before the semester started. Also many people don't get in their first time applying, in fact pretty much all the speech pathologists and audiologists I worked with were second time applicants. I had a speech pathologist tell me that U of A loves multiple time applicants and that a large portion of her class were second time applicants. You have worked so hard to get to this point, I know that we all want to finish in as little time as possible but what's one more year in the long run when you are doing something you love.
  5. Hi masumasuda, It was an extremely difficult decision, as I really could see myself in both professions. I also had invested so much time in both, and was very interested in the content in audiology so I still don't feel amazing about the decision. But I ultimately decided on speech as I would probably do better in a job that doesn't deal with technology as much. Also there is a much higher demand for speech pathologists, although they are both in demand. In addition, I also liked the flexibility of speech and that the degree was more easily transferable to the states.
  6. After a lot of consideration I have decided on Speech Pathology at UBC, so if anyone is currently on the wait-list for Audiology at UBC a spot will be opening up.
  7. Thank you I am actually an in province applicant.
  8. I am actually not sure which one I am going to choose, I never thought I would be accepted to both programs so I never considered what I would do if I was.
  9. Hi everyone, I am a longtime lurker and just made this account so I could post this message. I heard from UBC today and got into both Speech pathology and Audiology. I still can't believe it, I never thought I would get into both. My stats were lower then a lot of people on these forums so I really didn't think I had a shot. If there are any people reading this and worrying that there grades are too low, good reference letters and tons of volunteer experience really can make a big difference. Good luck to those still waiting and congratulations to those who were accepted.
