  1. I checked with my rep again today; she said she's received no new information. The only other option is to contact F-Hays directly. It can't be long at this point since grants go active Oct. 1.
  2. I asked my F-Hays contact person and she said she was told September but did not receive a particular date. As someone who applied last year and ended up an Alternate I can say that people were notified starting Sept. 7 but I did not receive word until Sept. 10. Also the application deadline last year was about 10 days later, so the decisions could be handed down earlier.
  3. I received my notification last year on September 10, from the F-Hays contact person at my university. The deadline last year was 14 June so about ten days later, which may have an effect on notifications. My guess is no earlier than first week in September, but that is still just a guess. Good luck getting through August!

I have not heard a peep and I kind of figure that by now everyone would have been notified. You could try contacting them just to check.
  5. It has to be completed in that time. If you read the actual application materials you can find more information.
  6. When you go to the application site on G5, there are a number of links on the right side of the screen. The most informative is 'Student Instructions and FAQs.' This is the relevant section I found with a quick search but there may be others: "Note: Students may not accept certain grants (IIE, Boren, IREX, Japan Foundation) in the same fiscal year that they receive a US/ED Fulbright-Hays grant. If a student accepts both a US/ED Fulbright-Hays grant and another grant, it may be necessary for the student to choose which grant to accept, or to negotiate a cost-sharing arrangement, so that funding is not duplicated. Student applicants who have received support for more than 6 months under the DDRA Program are not eligible to re-apply."
  7. And, if anyone wants to see the breakdown from last year's competition: http://www2.ed.gov/programs/iegpsddrap/ddragrantees2012.pdf
  8. I caught that this morning as well. I will note that so far you can't access the application through the G5 website; it has not appeared yet. Also the Dept. of Ed website still has forms from last year. The deadline is June 3rd so I guess it doesn't matter if it comes up today. I am interested to see if the application has changed at all from last year. If anyone has questions, I applied last year and was an Alternate, so unless there are major changes to the process this year, I would be happy to share what I remember.
  9. I sent an email to DDRA and they told me the competition should be opening tomorrow, May 2nd. Good luck to all!
  10. That was 2011/2012, when F-Hays was cancelled. 2012/2013 was funded through the Dept. of Education and was a rushed process. The application used to be released in the fall, like Fulbright IIE, until funding got cancelled in 11/12. Then 12/13 was this rushed one month process (I only know because I submitted an application and had some contact with people at F-Hays). Anyway, what happens this year is up in the air still, but, since there wasn't a fall announcement, I think it's safe to say it will be in the spring again. Or they just won't have one and they'll start again in fall 2013. So either your colleagues are confused, or they're referring to the previous year's awards.
  11. Actually, there was a Hays competition last year; it opened in May and the deadline was mid-June, if I remember correctly, for awards starting in October, at the earliest. If they do it the same way this year, I would start looking for info in April.
  12. When I emailed Amy she got back to me the next day, just FYI; I figured you can always ignore an email. I first contacted the administrator at my university handling F-H but she didn't have any information and she also told me that F-H doesn't release all the comment forms, etc., until all the grants have been accepted and allocated, in case you want to use the comments for future apps. My understanding is that in any given year they've generally given out 150ish awards and I imagine, I don't know, maybe 50 alternates?
  13. I also have alternate status and am waiting as patiently as possible, though I think I am pretty far down on the list. If you contact Amy Wilson, she will let you know where you stand. I don't know if that will help anyone else but it was useful for me.
