  1. Wherever I go this fall, I promise to remain a committed informant on the 2015 thread.
  2. I did! Finally. Thanks!
  3. All right people, time to start declining those Penn offers!

Was going to create a new funding spreadsheet, but I see people are already using this old one. Enter your deets. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AgQb-LRJLpvYdHM3VE1QaHJsS2dQZVRuTDF1eHgwNlE#gid=0

Wait, how do you know you're rejected at Penn?

    Not me, sadly.
  7. We have 5 Cornell admits on the board, so I think that's the wave.

Updated results from the spreadsheet as of now: 82 universities, 194 acceptances, 260 rejections, 23 waitlisted. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AqGB4iJQWjWbdC03WThhczY0aVdfeWdUYkZBa2xnb0E&usp=sharing

Who's ready to declare that Penn result fake?
  10. This is a good question. I would also appreciate advice on what to think if you've gotten drastically different pictures of the department from different students you've talked to.
  11. Mine was the acceptance with Citibank loans to cover the $60k annual tuition, but I don't see it now.
  12. Search for "University of Phoenix" on the results board. Our group has done a stellar job with those this year. EDIT: Looks like the good ones have been deleted.

To the results posted who asked if anyone is still waiting on Columbia: yes, presumably all the people who are going to be rejected in the next week or two. I think if you haven't heard anything at all, you can assume it's not happening.

From what I've heard, CUNY won't be making offers until March.
  15. I'm afraid so.

That's a fascinating topic. I'm a Europeanist, but I love studying right-wingers wherever they can be found. Incidentally I'm reading Hofstadter's "Anti-Intellectualism in American Life," and the descriptions of schools in the 1950s are riveting.
  17. Isn't it odd for the rejections to come first?
  18. Checking to make sure they will not be on leave, departing, or retiring is a good reason to do it. I don't think the "make them come to you" part makes sense, but agree that this is pretty unlikely to give you much of an admissions advantage.
  19. Thank you! I mostly did it to distract myself. I'm updating mostly based on the results board, but have also put in a few things (like cohort sizes) I've learned from my own reporting or that people have told me on here or in private messages.
  20. Maybe you could ask generally if all the decisions have been made. I'm in the same boat, but not brave enough to ask yet. So selfishly I would love for you to do it.
  21. I think you're right about this; I got an interview and an acceptance from schools where I hadn't contacted a POI. On the other hand, it certainly can't hurt anything, and might make an early impression that helps you get on a professor's short list (especially if you're able to speak with them by phone). I'd say if there's any chance it helps, go for it. I just way overthought it, and a very brief, genuine, non-wonky email is the way to go.
  22. I've got a LOT of updating to do after today.
  23. Northeastern acceptance is a good friend of mine - got an email to check the website at 1am this morning.
  24. Anyone on here know anything on Brown comp lit? What's up with those two random acceptances a week ago, then nothing else?
  25. My departing Columbia POI told me not to waste my money. Wish I'd listened.
