  1. Hey VBD, I think any news will come after April 15, when they will have received all the notifications from students who accepted their offers. I'd like to stay positive, but it's difficult.
  2. Thanks Sryahmay, yes I was struggling with those questions as well. Maybe it's just my bad luck.
  3. Thanks acdelco. Yes I am an international, but I think the issue here is that I am not highly ranked by the department. On their website they say that they consider and give merit-based funding to ALL admitted students, so there are int'l students who receive money from their department. I was told that only if fewer domestic students accept, might there be a chance for me to get something... but, I'm not holding my breath. Very depressing.
  4. I just found out that there is no funding with my offer, so it looks like my grad dreams are coming to an end. Good luck to everyone else!
  5. I am waiting as well! It ain't over until it's over.
  6. Hi everyone! Congratulations for your acceptances, hang in there everybody else! I just heard from UCLA Fielding School of Public Health. I got into their Health Policy and Management PhD program. I am still waiting on funding news from UCLA's Graduate Division, but I am relieved as my previous three responses were rejections. I am waiting on a few other programs: Yale, Columbia, NYU, and GWU. Best of luck and best wishes to everybody on this forum! M.
  7. Thank you for your updates! Good luck everybody!!
  8. Hi Carryon08, I am wondering how you know about Harvard's no-interview policy. I saw two posts on the Results page, claiming that they applied to Harvard's Health Policy PhD and were invited to interview. I have heard so many conflicting pieces of information about this, it's rather distressing. I applied to HSPH (Health Policy/Decision Sciences track) and have heard nothing so far.
  9. Hey MammaD, no you are not alone in this. I too haven't heard anything and feel that I am about to go insane. Thanks all for sharing your news and developments, it's much appreciated!
  10. Thanks for your answer Elsewhy! I am actually based outside the US, so I wouldn't be able to make it to any of the open-house sessions or other on-campus events. I thought you also had a phone interview scheduled with them, or perhaps I mis-read your statement. In any case, many thanks for replying and congrats again on your admissions so far! It must feel great!
  11. Hi Elsewhy, Congratulations on your acceptance and on the interviews from Yale and Emory! May I ask who from Yale contacted you, i.e. was it the Professor you mentioned in your statement of purpose or someone from their admissions office? I am wondering because I applied to the same program but have had no interview invitation, so I suppose this means I haven't gotten through the first review phase. Anyway, it would be good to know. Thanks so much, M.
  12. Hi Juillet, Thanks for your reply. Columbia had a very late opening of their system, because they changed it. They launched it on Oct 26 or thereabouts. It's not the one through ApplyYourself, they seem to have their own online system now. Anyway, it's all sorted now with Columbia and all my applications submitted. SOPHAS got their act together as well and corrected a mistake in their score reporting system. Re Columbia, the Mailman School didn't seem to have professors working on the topics that I was interested in (healthcare economics, focusing on non-communicable diseases and disability in developing countries). So instead I am applying to the PhD program in Sustainable Development through the School of International and Public Affairs, which seemed to be more in-line with my research plans. Thanks again for replying to my post. Mazaya.
  13. Hi Everyone, I have submitted almost all my applications for Fall 2013 (Public Health Ph.D.), so I thought I'd start a thread about Public Health applicants. This way we can share application tips and offer support, especially regarding SOPHAS and other logistical issues. I said above that I was almost finished because Columbia, shockingly enough, have not yet opened their online Graduate Application system! It's October 18th!! If anyone else is frustrated by this, feel free to vent here. Piece of advice regarding SOPHAS, please apply early, VERY early! They are tragically slow even in the early stages (September/October) when fewer people are likely to submit their applications. Also, ETS has a new score reporting system directly to SOPHAS and I understand that they are still trying to figure it out! Good luck to everyone!
