  1. Hello! I actually have a question for you. I applied to the program, but haven't heard back. Do you think I should assume a rejection if I have not heard back from them by now? I called the office today and the admin said that they should be sending out letters next week. She said they had a late start and some "complications."
  2. Hello! To anyone inquiring about St. Cloud State University.. I called the department and was told that admission decisions should be forwarded to the graduate department soon.. hopefully by tomorrow. The graduate department will send out the letters. Apparently the admissions committee had a "late start" according to the administrative assistant. She also said that there were some "complications" this year. I'm not sure what that means.
  3. That's great about the letter! I met Dr. Long at one of the information sessions and he was very personable and accommodating to all- I mentioned that in my SOP for Marquette. I get the feeling that he genuinely cares about the students- which is awesome because he definitely has a lot going on in terms of his own scholarly activities. He is going to host the information session for admitted students on March 22nd and I'm hoping to make that one Yes, here's hoping for good news Friday!
  4. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I appreciate your opinion. In terms of the "official letter" - I would suggest contacting Marquette? Perhaps your letter got lost in the mail. My letter was received last week. The letter stated that Marquette was not able to offer me financial aid at the present time. So, likewise, I think your letter would also state any sort of scholarship/funding that was available to you. The letter came before the FAFSA deadline of March 1st and did not include any federal loan information. I contacted the financial aid office at Marquette to ensure that I still qualified for loans. The administrator I talked with reassured me that I would receive information regarding loans... probably at the end of March or in April. Best wishes in your decision making! Let me know if you decide to go to Marquette It is definitely high on my list.. just waiting to hear back from the others before I officially decide.
  5. Badgerina- what are your thoughts on Marquette? I noticed that you studied at Madison, so I was wondering how you perceive the other schools in Wisconsin. Do you have any specific pros and cons regarding Marquette? Obviously it costs more than state schools, but from what I hear, I think the program is excellent... right?
  6. Thanks for the info, good to know!
  7. Has anyone heard a peep from St. Xavier University? I know they won't notify regarding decisions for awhile... but I haven't even gotten so much as a "thank you for your application" email. I'm thinking that CSDCAS might have backed everything up? I will probably try calling them if I don't hear anything soon.
  8. Me too! So happy for everyone today! and positive thoughts to all that are still waiting. One more month will bring a load of clarity!
  9. Hello! I am from Wisconsin, but currently live in Chicago. I'd be so excited to hear something positive from Marquette tomorrow! Do you have a top choice in WI?
  10. A whole slew of rejections went out on Thursday, and then a whole bunch of wait-lists went out on Friday... and at the end of the day, one person posted an acceptance! I'm hoping that they are working methodically through the list and the rest will be acceptances...
  11. I'm still waiting to hear back from Marquette too
  12. I know! Last year they contacted everyone via postal service (according to gradcafe...) It's hard to know what to expect
  13. I am also waiting to hear back from Marquette! You can forward your checkmarq email to your regular email (they sent directions on how to do this in the information envelope about checkmarq). I'm guessing that they send the admissions notification to your "regular" email, however? Have you visited the program? The staff is wonderful and the facilities are very nice
  14. I live in Chicago and know a girl currently in the program at Northwestern... she said that last year she got accepted in late April or May... Hope it is not that long for you all applying there! I think they accept people in waves...since their program is very expensive in comparison to other schools and many of those accepted choose to go elsewhere. They typically receive 200-300 applicants and accept 45-50% of applicants..
  15. I went to the open house in November. They strongly advised everyone to apply elsewhere because getting accepted is extremely difficult. A former CU student (2 years ago) told me that you are more likely to be accepted if you want to work in the schools.. but I'm not sure if that is still true. It seems as if they tend to diversify each cohort.. ie. applicants from diverse educational backgrounds and from all over the country. No priority is given to CO residents. I'm hoping that works in my favor... I have a business degree and worked in finance for several years before getting a post bacc in speech. Boulder is my top choice.... it would be a dream come true to get in!
