I wonder if they are doing it in alphabetical order? anyone care sharing the first initial of their last name?

So it looks like people are posting more wait lists today, do you think that's right? I hope so! I'm anxious haha

I heard back this morning, but it does sound like they are doing them in waves. I am really excited! ASU and University of Iowa are my two top choices, and believe me it is going to be a tough one. I am going to Iowa's open house on Friday the 29th, so I will probably make my decision then (so close to the cutoff!) I hope that doesn't affect my chance for funding at ASU :/

Hi all! Is anyone who is admitted to Iowa planning on going to their open house? Is Iowa your first choice? Anyone admitted who currently goes there who would like to share their thoughts on the program, town, etc?

Thanks! I know, I think my whole family thinks I'm a little crazy for wanting to move to Arizona for a lower ranked program that costs more. However, ASU offers a lot more clinical experiences, and that is a large focus of their program. It also allows people to choose a bilingual, pediatric, or adult tract. Iowa offers no bilingual program. Their "tracts" (if you even want to call them that) are to be a practicing SLP, be a professor, or be a researcher. I have no ambition to do the final two on that list .I like that ASU focuses on practicing SLPs. Still, I'm not sure those are enough reasons to justify paying out of state tuition and moving for a program that is technically ranked lower (stupid rankings).

I know I am hoping to hear soon also! After the interviews, ASU is one of my, if not my only, top choice. It looks like last year they found out like March 20th. That seems like a long wait from now. And I wonder how many they plan on cutting? It sounds like they usually admit around 80 and there were 80 of us there, but I also talked with people who were interviewing for the second time. I also saw a post from last year stating that that person was rejected and supposed their interview didn't go so well. Such a waiting game!

I had a similar question! I got into Iowa, the number one school, but I also interviewed at ASU and LOVED it (however its ranked 25). To further complicate things, since I live in Iowa currently I would have less moving costs, in state tuition, more money all around. However, I still just can't get all the awesome ASU clinic opportunities, bilingual and pediatric tracts, etc out of my head. I do plan on one day apply for an Phd. Thoughts??

Did anyone here apply to the University of Iowa? Last year it looks like they notified people on February 29th (darn leap year), but still no word yet :/

Haha I counted the number too! Super exciting! What are you guys bringing with you for the day? A purse/bag/backpack? Paper, pencils, anything like that?

Does anyone know if the writing sample will be done with our without a computer? I have a very hard time writing papers without the use of a computer, I like to organize and reorganize my thoughts often and that doesn't work so well with pen and paper!

Thanks for sharing Deleria. What day were you contacted? Did you apply to the 3 year tract or the typical 2 year masters program? Also, if you don't mind sharing your stats/info, I would love to hear what kind of applicant they are looking for. Congratulations on the acceptance!

Has anyone here received news from UA? I saw one person received an acceptance by phone, and the other by email. I was thought it was strange that they received acceptances in two different ways like that --- leading me to obsessively check my phone and email haha. Also, it seemed strange that only two people have posted results. I'm thinking they are possibly only admitting to their 3 year program right now, and that could explain for the small number of people reporting? Any insight you can give would be greatly appreciated!
