  1. I sit with jealousy towards the many posters who are weighing which top 20 program they want to attend. Who else on here is applying to mostly middle and lower tier programs like myself?
  2. As of this morning I still haven't heard anything. Probably not a good sign. Grrrrr.
  3. My employer has been asking me when I'll need time off to visit schools, so I went ahead and e-mailed UT about when I can expect to hear something. I was told to expect an e-mail in 2-3 days, followed by a letter in the mail. No clue if that's good or bad. I tend to think I don't quite have the stats necessary to get funding. The only thing I really have going for me is I was in close contact with a professor there and one of his colleagues while I worked on my Master's thesis. (they provided a lot of critical research help that my thesis committee couldn't always help with.)
  4. Undergrad Degree: Political Science (with distinction) GPA: 3.3 overall, 3.8 within major (started with meteorology my first 3 semesters there, really screwed up my GPA for a while) (highly ranked public liberal arts school) Masters Degree: Political Science - IR & Comparative (with honors) GPA: 3.94 (unranked program - only grants M.A. degrees) GRE: Q - 580 V- 550 AW- 5.5 Article under review for publication.
  5. I applied to UNC as well and haven't heard back. I just assumed I'm wait-listed. So, any of you who have been accepted there, feel free to turn down their offer.
  6. Rejected by Georgia today. Damn. Program was a perfect fit for me.
  7. I can't imagine working on my MA thesis and studying for comps last year while having to deal with this process to. Ouch.
  8. Quit my temporary job in NC and become marooned in the government bureaucracy of DC. Of course, as some of my ex-classmates are discovering, an M.A. degree from Appalachian State isn't all that impressive to many employers up there.
  9. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated. I haven't received an e-mail today either. Oh well. I knew it was probably a long shot.
  10. Thanks for the info. How did you find out?
  11. Don't forget tomorrow is Presidents' Day. No mail to hurry home and check.
  12. I remain envious towards those of you who are already hearing back. It'll probably be March before I hear back from most of my choices. The exceptions are probably UNC (where I doubt I'll get in) and Tennessee (where I have little interest in going).
