The same thing has actually crossed my mind too, and Focus also lives in the Pacific Northwest so you may be right about it being a local thing. Tempted to contact them again today since she last told me everyone would know their status by the end of December. But to be blunt, now that I see there are at least three of us on here in this position I feel a bit worse about each of our chances.

I still haven't heard a damn thing from UW Immunology and a bunch of rejections went out on Friday. About to pull out my damn hair.
-
Well hey man, good luck with the rest of your applications and thanks for answering my questions. I only applied to two UW departments and no other schools this year so I hope you're in a better position than me!
-
Well sorry again :-/. One last question though. Did you notice if your application status on the UW website changed?
-
Well shit man, I'm sorry. I still haven't received a damn thing so it's killing me. Did you just receive yours or was it several hours ago, probably the same time as the others?
-
Well someone just posted a rejection notification by email...unless they just assumed a rejection because of no other email.
-
Have any of you (lurkers included) been rejected from UW Immunology or know of anyone who has?
-
Congratulations! I still haven't heard anything from UW Immunology...in 2011/12/13, they sent out rejections before interview invitations, but no one reported rejections in 2014. So I have no idea what's going on. =\
-
I'd reply with a thank you, worst case scenario no one reads it. Best case you make a good impression.

Same boat as all of you. From Memphis, got a BS and MS near Chicago, then landed a biotech job in Seattle where I've been for the past 2 years. Gotta have a PhD to get where I want to be, but I am really tired of moving and starting over so this year only applied to UW Immunology and UW Bioengineering. GPA of ~3.4 and ~3.6. So yeah, go non-traditionals!

Uhg I wish there were more sites than just The Grad Cafe so I had more sources of admissions information....
-
I know that's what UW Immunology is doing. I reckon they want to make sure they fill all their slots and so if they want to interview 15, rather than asking 15 at once and then having 12 acceptances with 3 holes they have to fill, they invite 5, then 5, then 5? Or something like that.
-
Congratulations!

For anyone else waiting to hear from University of Washington Immunology, I emailed the department to ask about how they were rolling out invitations and they said that they sent out about a third of their invitations yesterday and anticipated sending out the rest by early next week. Also, that the status of all applications will be made known by the end of December, but I think that's fairly well known.
-
Ahh. Can you elaborate on what you mean by this? As in you think they may have sent out rejections already?
-
Congratulations! Did it seem like a form email or was it highly personalized? I'm still hoping to hear from them...=\

Anyone here hear from Yale BME? There's one acceptance up. Did they send out one salvo of mass acceptances?
-
Do they know you're in the states right now? It could be that their system is set up to offer Skype interviews to international students by default. There's no harm in asking about an on-site interview; if anything it shows initiative and interest. That said, you might want to be prepared to finance it yourself if you propose it.

I could continue to wave my dick at you but it's kinda disrespectful to the other 99% people here who don't care about our half-assed rivalry.
-
With almost all our starters injured we're pretty much writing off this season. The last two big victories you had over us (this basketball game, the game at Wrigley) our key players were injured. Let's see ya do it again next year brother.
-
Yeah you just mad cuz we beat you like a red-headed stepchild back in December. =P
-
o.O Wow. Evanston has amazing food, during the spring the lakeside beach is fantastic, and we're a short train ride from the coolest city in the country.
-
What professors are you most interested in banksy?
-
I've been to Houston several times since I had an ex-girlfriend there, and it's just not that great. Chicago, where I am, is much better (except for the cold).
-
...well, the bright side to being rejected by Rice is that I don't have to live in Texas.
