I am not in law school yet but I am applying. I have lived and worked in China and I would like to continue studying Mandarin while in law school. I know this is not a law school forum but I do hope someone can give some guidance to me about the application process or any other relaxant thoughts.

I lived and worked in China and I think it would be a good idea for me to continue to build my mandarin skills during law school. I want to use a FLAS or Boren Fellowship sometime during my law school career (I am not in law school yet, this VERY preliminary). Can anyone help me understand how these two programs would help or might hurt someone in law school? I come from a family of lawyers and they all say go for it, but they can't give me any concrete advice. They say this is a little outside the box. Any and all relevant thoughts are welcome.
