  1. Got a call from the University of Florida yesterday, accepting me to their MA program. Thought a few people might be interested to know, perhaps for future application cycles, that this is the last year Florida is accepting MA applicants. As it was explained to me, they will officially be combining the MA/PhD next year, which I was also told means that their Fall 2013 MA students who remain in good standing will automatically feed into their PhD program. Offer is about $9,700 for two years, plus tuition and health insurance, teaching a 2-1 or a 1-2. Was also told summer funding is not guaranteed but is available. I'm still wait listed at Michigan, and I think I'm going to wait that one out. But it's nice to know I could be *somewhere* next year (as I'm not in a position financially to seriously consider Chicago's MAPH program).
  2. Oh, man. I am so tempted to email the department at UF. Everyday I think "today is the day UF will notify me." And every day, I am wrong. My nerves are frayed.
  3. I do feel like Florida's been a little quiet today. Can't decide if it means a slew of rejections are coming via email (they've finally decided against this one at a time thing) or if it means absolutely nothing, and I'm just driving myself crazy for no reason (what else is new). They do seem pretty committed to acceptances via phone, though.
  4. I would love it if everyone that's being rejected from Florida would let us know whether or not they prompted the university for the rejection (you know, emailing about application status). It just doesn't make any sense to me that they'd reject one at a time like this otherwise. I applied for the MA, as they don't have an MA/PhD program, and it's basically my last hope. WHERE IS MY DECISION, FLORIDA? *runs around in circles* One cannot live off the Michigan wait list alone!
  5. Anyone else panicked about possible Michigan acceptances today?
  6. *sigh* Chicago. Guess it could be worse. Any program that competitive is always a reach. Just worried about what it means for my other four applications.
  7. Anyone remember if last year Michigan's English/Education PhD program notified on a different date than the straight English PhD program? Looks like there's an acceptance up on the results board (for English and Education--major congratulations!) and I'm now officially freaking out. Mich is my top choice. This was supposed to be my week to worry about Pitt and Chicago. MICHIGAN WORRIES WERE SUPPOSED TO COME MUCH, MUCH LATER. D:
  8. From your lips to the adcomm's ears, DontHate. I'm not nearly as confident. UGH, WHY DO WE HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL FEBRUARY?
  9. Hmm. This isn't going to take my stress level down at all, but I'll buy in. GPA: 3.95 GRE: 169 V, 151 Q, 6.0 AW Undergrad Institution: well known public university Programs applied to: 1 Ivy, 1 elite public, my undergrad institution, Pitt, & Chicago My bet? I get into my undergrad institution. Miiiiiight get into the elite public school, if I'm really lucky.
