  1. I am sorry that you are going through such an experience. It is really a pity how such academically and professionally accomplished people can turn out to be horrible human beings. I had a similar experience with the program coordinator of my master's program. You are also lucky that you have this problem with your MA advisor because you can get out. Just tolerate him as much as you can and you will go somewhere else for the PhD and hopefully forget that he even existed. Just make sure to take his slack this year so that you can get your MA and as soon as you get your PhD acceptance, life will become so sweet. Good luck.
  2. Unfortunately, you cannot survive without a car at Duke but your $1500 should not be too bad considering besides rent and food, there is not much opportunity to spend money in the area:)

Hi again! Could anyone give idea on which management companies to avoid or which are good? There seems to be mixed reviews on most of them. I remember someone on the forum had written way earlier to stay away from Lobos and Es Management. Thanks.

Hey! This will be too detailed but I am asking since there are people who know the area well. I found a one bedroom apartment from Franklin West at 340 S.Highland Avenue in Shadyside. It is like a mile to CMU and close to Giant Eagle and stuff. The rent is $870 (heat included). Do you think this is a good deal? I know there are cheaper places but I keep reading horrible things (roaches, terrible management etc) on the net about places that seem nice at first glance and I am worried about security as well. What would you say?

Hey! Craigslist would give you an idea I guess. Also, Franklin West, Walnut Capital and Meyers Management have a lot of nice places. Mozart also has a lot of properties but I read some terrible things about them on the net. As for the date, I am looking to move in August and most realtors told me that they will know about availability in May.
  6. I think they also contact you when you are accepted. Or at least that's what happened with my admits.
  7. Hi! Does anyone know how much taxes will eat away from our fellowships? Mine will be 23K before taxes. Thanks.

Hi again! Thanks for the comments. I will keep looking for a place within my budget that is further from Center and North Craig. Perhaps on 5th street? Also, I have been told many times that I should not be out on the streets by myself at night. Better to be too scared from the start than be stupid I guess.. Lynz0r, I heard that biking becomes quite an issue in winter because of snow.

Hi! I guess I will open the thread for 2008. I will be a grad student at CMU next year. How about Neville Street in North Oakland? The apartment seems nice and it is about a mile to campus? Thanks.
  10. Hi! Does anyone have any experience with the interviewing the Kellogg Management and Organizations program? Thanks.
  11. I am in the same situation- meaning have not heard from top program when I know someone has interviewed them- but I am counting that as a definete rejection. Does not make it any easier though:(
  12. Yes, I was asking for the PhD programs, sorry I should have specified. Congrats for the Wharton interview, you deserve to do the happy dance:)
  13. Yeah I saw that and others at Harvard. I applied to OB, I do hope it differs for each program:(
  14. Hi!! Has anyone heard for interviews from business schools, especially Stanford and Northwestern? Thanksss. And of course, which programs?
