Denied from UNC. It's a bummer, but I am really excited I got accepted to UMD-CP and VA Tech. I got into 2 out of 4 schools and will be visiting both before I decide. Anyone else visiting Tech or UMD-CP?

UNC's admissions page says that they start giving out domestic acceptances in February. I'd assume the people who got acceptances in January are outstanding applicants. I also assume that a lot of people who applied to UNC may have also applied to other top schools. UNC may wait to see how many of those people decline before sending out more acceptances. Looking at their admits and enrollment stats on the graduate home website it looks like quite a few people get accepted and don't enroll. That's how I rationalize in my head that I may still get accepted there.

I got my first acceptance today to the University of Maryland. I am so relieved. I had a rejection from UVA a few weeks ago and it made me think that I was going to be rejected everywhere I applied.

I am getting pretty worried. I only applied to four schools: UNC, Virginia Tech, UMD, and UVA. I have already been denied by UVA. Virginia Tech and UNC have started giving out admissions and I haven't recieved anything yet and It looks like UMD gives acceptances in February so we'll see about that one. I wish I knew whether I am accepted or denied so I can start planning if I have to apply again. I have already started planning on how to make myself a better applicant for next years application period. FML. =

Applied to UNC-Chapel Hill, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, University of Maryland-College Park, and Georgetown GPA-3.29 overall/ 3.3 chemistry at Virginia Tech GRE Q-156 V-153 AW 3.5 3 semesters undergraduate research 2 years work experience in industry 3 Years in Alpha Chi Sigma chemistry fraternity Not sure how competitive I am for these schools but I applied anyways. If the people applying all have ridiculous stats like everyone in here I am screwed.
