  1. Hey erindn- I was getting really anxious about having not received mine yet either. I waited a month before I called New York. They told me that I had been cleared a week after I sent in the forms. I was confused because I was under the impression that they would be sending a confirmation out, and she said "oh no, we don't send confirmations." My suggestion is to call and find out. It sure beats waiting! Germany ETAs post when you learn of your assignment.
  2. Germany ETAs-- Has anyone learned of their specific assignment yet? I feel like I've been sitting around waiting for a long time. Does anyone know when they will come in? It's making me anxious because a lot of the documentation sent with the circular is dependent upon which city we'll be in, like the banking information.
  3. Hey all Germany ETAs Finally got my Grant Authorization today! I'm going to be at a school in Baden-Wuerttemberg! NICE! But I also received a blank in the monthly Euro spot. I'd imagine in some cases acceptance of award is contingent upon monthly stipend. I'm really signing a blank check right now. Anyone else feel similarly?
  4. I haven't found out yet! Oooh! I want to know. Where are you guys located? Did it come to your permanent address or your current address? Thanks!
  5. To Germany ETAs from Ines Horbert this morning: "This is to inform you that we have sent out official grant authorization letters and important information via snail mail yesterday. You should expect to receive them within the next 10 days. Please notify us if you do not receive them within that period." Just received this email. It's fantastic! But at the same time I'm like ugh... Please no more emails informing me about letters. This is like when Germany sent out the first cryptic email alerting us that "a letter had been sent." I want to know where in Germany already! At least it's more information. Can't wait to hear!
  6. This is fantastic news! I've been so excited to find out where I've been placed! The excitement of the grant really hasn't fully set in yet because I don't know where in Germany I'll be. I think once I find out, I'll be able to research the city and finally get excited because it will finally be real. Keep the forum posted once you find out! I'm curious where others will be too.
  7. Sure! I've only received the intention letter from the Kommission and then the medical forms from IIE. I've sent everything in again, but I'm in the same boat with the waiting game. I hope more information comes along soon.
  8. Definitely. When I was applying to college I was put on a wait list. I called and offered to send in additional materials every week. Then, out of the blue, I get a call from them one morning. I missed it but they left a message saying "Please give us a call as soon as you can." I woke up around noon and began calling fanatically, only to discover that I had to wait for another hour while everyone was on lunch break! I called again at 1:05 and they said they were pleased to offer me admission. People don't bother making personal calls if it's not important! Good luck!!
  9. Hmm. Thanks for the reply, but I was under the impression that there were independent "campus ratings" from Fulbright, like if you look in the upper right hand corner of the Fulbright application it says "Campus Rating." I don't think this translates directly with overall University ranking, though I'm sure it has something to do with it. Maybe, like US NWR, they group in tiers, either based on success rate, national ranking, or some combination of the two. I was just curious if anyone knew for sure.
  10. So glad everything is pleasant and civil again--thanks Minnesotan! Also, people keep talking about school ranking as having a part in the application process. How is this ranking decided upon? This is an independent number from the number of applicants vs. the number awarded grants per University, is it not? Can someone explain the difference, if one exists, and if there is some way to find out different school rankings? Thanks!
  11. Wow! The waiting continues, huh?
  12. I tried posting a question a long time ago, but nobody picked up that thread because of the blog-stility. This place was such a comfort, but it has of late turned sour--anger is seductive. I miss the time when everyone offered congratulations to grantees and condolences to rejections, optimism for alternates. My question was how long does it take for the medical clearance to come through?
  13. Hey all. I have a question: I sent in my medical evaluation about a week ago, and was wondering how long it takes for the clearance to come through. Thanks!
