  1. Hi Vt-- I understand the "moving" pains. Like you, I'm ready to dive into the Fall semester. I arrived in DE a couple of weeks ago and am slowly building a routine. Fall books are arriving slowly in the mail. Have you settled into life in Philadelphia yet? What does your Fall schedule look like?
  2. Congratulations to all the Fall 2013 applicants! What an exhausting but rewarding journey. Best of luck to everyone.

Hi KDavid --- I sent you a PM.
  4. From what I understand, you will need to explore additional forms of funding opportunities, both internal and external from the department. They may still give you the option to TA after the end of your third year, though these slots for TAing may be competitive. I suggest contacting the DGS and ask how students support themselves after their third year. Also, try to get in touch with current grad students and ask them about their experiences in obtaining additional funding.
  5. Interesting...thanks for sharing.

ameshu205, thanks for the list of apartments!
  7. Hi phdhope... Like you, I still have heard nothing from Georgetown...no email, no rejection letter waiting for me when I log into their app site. I've contacted the department's grad coordinator for more info and she is looking into it. She indicated that all students should have received notification by now. (maybe a glitch in their system??) I expect to receive a rejection letter in the next few days because, as hanlin pointed out, all admitted students received notification in February. If you don't hear back from them soon, perhaps give them a call to check on the status of your app.

Hello. I'm also considering moving to Newark over the summer (from Lakewood, CA). I've emailed back and forth with a few students. They have indicated that a Wilmington commute is very doable. I've looked into grad housing at the university, but haven't been able to really see floor plans, etc. for grad-specific housing. Apartments seem to be in the 700-900 range, but the student who provided that info did not specify whether it was a one or two-bedroom apartment. I am going to visit Newark next week to meet with faculty and students but also to check out the area and see which neighborhoods look nice and affordable. I agree that it's a good idea to keep the thread active. I'll repost after my visit next week if I learn anything new about the housing situation in Newark.
  9. just pm'd you...
  10. CoffeeKofenya, hopefully you will hear from Temple soon! I just received an "official" email from the DGS about ten or so minutes ago. Unfortunately, the DGS still had no news on funding.
  11. Congrats!
  12. Congrats, History Time!!
  13. I can't complain! I'm looking forward to putting the "waiting period" behind me and return my focus to comprehensive exams.
  14. The University of Delaware has started to contact their admits. Best wishes for those who applied to the program!!!
  15. I just PM'd you.
