  1. I have found out that I was accepted into a program. The program I was accepted into asks for a security deposit by a certain date and they say they are "first come first serve" in terms of seats. I am still waiting to hear from another school who says they notify decisions between March-May. That is a huge gap and I do not want to risk losing my spot in the other school. Is it ok to notify the school that I have been accepted into another program and would like to know when admission decisions will be released? (I attended their open house and they had said we could do this, let them know of any other schools decisions but I still feel weird actually doing that... I wanted to know other opinions)
  2. I know this would definitely be helpful for me and possibly for others currently applying. I was wondering for those of you who are currently in the MSW program if you could give me some insight into how the workload is and if you have any tips or techniques to balancing out classes and field placement. Also for those who are currently working part-time or even full-time how you manage to balance work with school Your advice would be greatly appreciated!
  3. I am applying for the MSW for fall 2013. I have heard mixed messages about the application process and wanted to know if anyone knew how admissions worked. I have heard that it is rolling admissions but others have told me it is not. Anyone who has applied to Rutgers could you let me know when you applied and when you heard back Thank you!
  4. Hi Everyone, I am applying for a MSW for Fall 2013. The schools I am applying to are Rutgers, Columbia, Fordham, and Temple. I graduated with a BS in psychology in 2011 with a 3.67 GPA and have been working with high-risk individuals for the past 2 years. I have letters from the medical director, psychologist, and clinical social worker at work (I did not get any from school because I have not stayed in contact with any professors and since I work in a social service field right now I thought it would be best to get it from there). Before deciding on a MSW I had plans to apply to PsyD programs and then took the GREs. I had chosen to send my scores to Rutgers since they were one of my choices for the PsyD. Well I did really poorly on the GREs. (Writing- 300, Quantitative- 151, Verbal - 151). I just finished applying to the Rutgers program and saw that my GRE scores that I had sent to the Psyd program is showing up on my MSW application. I am worried that even though they do not require GRE scores for the MSW that the fact that it is showing up on my application might hurt my chance of getting into the MSW program. What are your opinions? Do you think that the fact that my poor GRE scores are on my application can affect my chance of getting into the MSW program at Rutgers? They are my top choice and I would hate for something that isnt even required to be the reason that I would not be accepted. Thank you!
