  1. I think UF released decisions quite a while ago... some of my friends found their decisions in their spam folders, so you should check there just in case.
  2. One of their star faculty members is also leaving to go to Northwestern in Fall 2014.
  3. People in academia tend to believe that USnews rankings are bogus, especially for phd programs
  4. I don't understand why you wouldn't just wait to hear back from Columbia..
  5. Is there a benefit to responding earlier? Otherwise, I would just wait to hear back from your other schools -- maybe they will offer funding packages that you won't want to turn down.
  6. I don't know yet. I still have a couple of schools to visit in the next few weeks. I will probably not make my final decision until April.
  7. I received a generic e-mail on March 6th. I don't think I'm overqualified by any means... CMU has a top notch OR program. I think some things in my personal statement and academic history probably didn't align very well with CMU's program.
  8. I know CMU has already made an offer (and I think they only admit ~3 students/year), but I haven't gotten anything, so I'm expecting a rejection.
  9. I thought the visit was put together very well. The current students seemed very nice. Do you have any specific questions?
  10. They don't invite international students to the graduate weekend visit as far as I am aware, so don't worry about that. I'm not sure about the exact timing of when decisions will be released, I was just told by a professor that it will be relatively soon. I didn't apply to Georgia Tech, nor have I heard anything about it, sorry.
  11. I heard Michigan will be releasing decisions soon.
  12. Thank you I'm not sure yet. I'm hoping visiting the schools will make the decision easier. Good luck with your applications!
  13. I'd guess that getting invited to the visit is probably the best possible response you could have from them so far, especially since nobody has posted any rejections/acceptances yet. Good job!
  14. They might not be done sending acceptances yet, so don't lose hope! I don't think it's uncommon for schools to send acceptances in multiple waves.
  15. Thanks :] No idea at the moment. Hopefully school visits will help make the decision easier. Do you have any opinions?
  16. A wave of decisions were released today.
  17. That sounds pretty good, but keep in mind that other people that were admitted might also have achievements that aren't posted on the results page. Good luck with the rest of your apps -- it sounds like you have a good shot of getting in to some of those places.
  18. How are your rec letters and research experience? I think those are more important than stats like GPA/GRE.
  19. Yes. I don't know anything about the visit weekend beyond what has been officially communicated via e-mail to all invitees.
  20. Sure. Senior undergrad at a well-known public uni in the US Dual degree in math, industrial & operations engineering GPA: 3.9/4.0 GRE: V 159, Q 170, A 4.0 ~2 years of research experience with 1 first author publication and 1 podium presentation at a sectional conference 2 summer internships that are slightly related to IE Let me know if I missed anything.
  21. Their graduate information weekend for admitted students is in two weeks, and the travel plan deadline was today, so I'd guess that further acceptances would only be sent to people on the waitlist after other people decline initial offers.
  22. Nevermind, just got an e-mail from them to check my application status online, and I was accepted . Good luck to all those who are still waiting!
  23. I'm in the same position as you. I feel like there's a good chance we're actually going to get waitlisted. I don't think they simply forgot to send the rejection. An IEOR professor actually looked at my LinkedIn profile yesterday, so I think we're still under review.
  24. When did you guys receive your decision e-mails? I also applied to Columbia, but haven't heard anything (neither acceptance nor rejection).
  25. Can you clarify what you're asking? I was admitted for PhD, and the funding package was specified in the admission letter.
