I don't think it makes a bad first impression, it just stresses out those of us who are waiting and don't have any acceptances. I'd recommend contacting the school where you're on the waitlist, and let them know your situation - just say you're still very interested, but you need to make a decision soon, and do they have any new information? You can also contact the other school and let them know you are interested but still waiting to hear from one more place. I have a feeling there are a lot of people in this position as well...

I'm an outgoing UNC undergrad, and I wish you all the best of luck here. It's an amazing atmosphere. Great students, professors, and energy. And springtime is gorgeous. Tips: check out the Daily Grind for coffee and Banditos for Mexican food. Before I get too nostalgic, I should go - but I'm seriously gonna miss it here.

Hello friends! I'm in the same boat - waitlisted at 3 schools with no acceptances. At one school I am the #2, at another I was told I was on a "relatively short" waitlist, and I have no idea about position for the 3rd. I spend so much time and energy waiting to hear back after interviews, and now I have to wait again until April 15th. My backup plan? Apply for research assistantships (I'm coming straight from undergrad). I'd just really like to get this grad school thing started and not have to delay it for another 2 years. Advice and general kind words would be appreciated
