There was a separate assistantship application for the master's higher ed program. It was via email and was due a few weeks after the main one. They're sort of a package deal when it comes to interviews/admission for our program. (You can go without one but have to get the practice hours somewhere else.)
Emg, I applied to assistantships, too, so that will probably drag it out a little longer. But I think one of their two sets of interview days is near the end of February, so I imagine at least part of the group will hear back in the next couple of weeks. Who knows when, though! I submitted my app so long ago that I can barely remember it, but I don't recall having any problems uploading anything. Good luck!
Emg, I also applied to UVM. Have you heard anything yet? It's one of my last two I'm waiting to hear from. The other (Iowa) has a deadline of Feb. 1, so I'm not expecting anything anytime soon.
I'd just send it to all the programs you're applying to or have heard from. As for knowing your financial situation, most of it is just listing your income, taxes and what money you have now, right? So, I'd just put the current info in and estimate what your financial situation will likely be when it comes to next year's expected income.
(This may not be helpful because it's been a looong time since I've filled out a FAFSA, but I'm doing one this year and plan to follow my own advice.)
I saw that someone's been invited to interview with Virginia Tech's higher education master's program this year and was curious if anybody's heard from them. Their website made it sound like it was slightly rolling (a deadline, but they say they will review your materials when they get them), but I sent my stuff in months and months ago, and haven't heard a peep. So, I'm just wondering if they waited for the deadline or if I've just been left behind.
I had one like that. They specifically said that they'd let you know if they were missing anything and not to contact them, but for some reason, I decided to ask about a week before deadline. Turned out they were missing one of my LORs. Of course, I found out on Christmas Eve, and my professor wasn't getting back to his office until a day before deadline, so I freaked out. He had sent it months earlier, but they just hadn't matched it up with my application.
Va. Tech's was really confusing. I had to print out a copy of each page of the online application (like eight pages) to send to the department, but there was no feature that turned it into a PDF or something equally printable. Also couldn't do a screen grab because each page was so long. It took forever to figure out how to do it. They also told me that there had been space to list online recommenders on one page of the application, but I hadn't seen it (and had the printed copies to double-check and see that it wasn't on there), so I had to mail them all in.
The rest was just confusion about the process in general. Telling us that we had to mail two copies of everything to the grad school and the department, but then the grad school telling me they didn't want a copies of any of it. I'm still not sure my stuff went to the right places, but I guess I'll find out eventually...
Thanks, Holly! I'm starting to realize that I didn't have the best strategy when applying because I didn't know quite how popular some of these schools were. Good luck on your applications! I grew up near N.C. State, but I see that you're from North Carolina, so you probably are familiar with it already.
I'll let you know if I have any questions about Columbia. I'm hoping to get a good feel for it when I visit next month.
I applied to eight programs waaay back in October. I heard from the two that do rolling admissions the next month (acceptances), and am waiting on the rest. Two of them say they'll get back to me this week or next, and I think the others are in February. So antsy!
